Digital Anti-Static Straightening Brush

Digital Anti Static Ceramic Hair Straightener by Derma'vention Heating Detangling Hair Brush Heats Quickly Straightens Without Tugging Or Breakage Hair Straightener Derma'vention http://www.amazon.com/dp/B016YRVMDG/ref=cm_sw_r_pi_dp_Ry1owb1412TW1: Let me start out by saying I will try just about any beauty product but typically I'm skeptical. Especially with hair tools and products. I have very thick, course hair with intermittent patches of curl, and wave, and frizz. Letting my hair "air dry" means I am prepared to look like a dress rehearsal for a low budget Exorcist remake. My hair looks good when I'm done with styling, but it takes a lot of work to get it there. Plus I don't like that pin straight look that I get from flat irons. And that what i like about this straightening brush. Here are the highlights of why I think this brush is awesome:

1. It heats to 450 degrees but is less damaging to your hair! There it no pulling and tugging (limited breakage) and the infrared technology heats and disperses more effectively so less burning and damage to the shaft of the hair.
2. The infrared technology also stimulates circulation for a healthier scalp. That means healthier, shinier, stronger hair.
3. It straightens even course and curly hair but maintains volume, like a professional blow out. Some time I do take a flat iron  or curling iron to the ends to change up the look but I have found that this straightening brush is the tool I go to in the morning.
4. I like the auto shut-off feature. Have you ever been out for the day or evening and panic when you can't recall if you shut your flat iron off? Also it is safer to use because the direct contact to the heating source is limited. Less burns. Safer for younger girls.
5. This really is amazing for all hair types and ethinicities.
6. The technology is cutting edge and top of the line. I don't like badly made merchandise.
7. Adds shine, volume, decreases static, stimulates the scalp, less damage.

Give it a try. I think this will become your favorite styling tool as well.

MACA SUPERFOOD WILL KEEP YOU GOING THIS HOLIDAY SEASON LIKE YOUR ONE OF SANTA'S ELVES!

I love this season more than any other time of the year, but let's face it, it is exhausting.  We all want more energy, and Maca Superfood is a healthy and effective way to support natural energy. Maca is indigenous to Peru and used as a food source for centuries. It just happens to be the best source of energy and endurance I have found. No stimulants, no crashes.
As a Naturopath, it is important for me to have healthy energy and the best source I have found has been Maca Superfood. It helps to create a natural sense of endurance and resistance that is unlike other things you may have tried for a temporary fix. Those 3 o'clock yarns- goodbye!
I (like you if you were drawn to this article) have a very busy life. On some days I have felt that I was scheduled within 5 seconds of my life, and although I knew I had to keep moving. That is not comfortable for me at all. This is one of the amazing attributes of Maca. Natural energy without feeling jittery or overstimulated.
As the holiday season fast approaches, allow me to recommend Maca as part of your holiday season arsenal. Dinner for 30 people, no problem. Decorating like Martha Stewart came for a visit, no problem. Plus Maca Superfood will boost your immune system. Give it a try for lasting energy.

Hot Flash Helper!

Are the symptoms of menopause causing you distress?

If so, I'm sure you can relate to mood swings, hot flashes, inability to sleep, fatigue, weight gain, changes in your skin and body, and the list goes on....

There are many options out there for you in pharmaceuticals, but most come with a multitude of risks and side effects. Natural options are very effective and safe. I personally have found significant hormone balancing benefits from using Maca as part of my wellness routine.

So what would I recommend to help you? Here are some suggestions:

1. Be patient. Give any new supplement some time to work. Choose one supplement at a time to add to your routine. Often I find a combination of supplements is beneficial, but do so slowly. Add one new supplement your interested in trying each month. This can help you avoid taking things you may not need or supplements that do not work with your particular set of symptoms.

2. Exercise. Quite simply, you will feel more energy and stamina, keep your weight in check, and sleep better. All very important aspects of our health as we get into our 40's and beyond.

3. Healthy eating. Yes I know. You have heard this before. Processed foods and meats have steroids, antibiotics. Packaged foods have all kinds of chemicals and GMO's that can interfere with our hormone levels. Eat healthy. Try organic.

4. Talk with other women who are going through it. It's nice to not feel alone.

5.Consider Maca(hot flashes, mood, better sleep, increased libido, more energy), Evening Primrose Oil (hormone support), Black Cohosh (hot flashes), Flaxseed (night sweats), Wild Yam (natural hormone therapy), Ginseng (mood and sleep), St. John's Wort (mood swings).

6. Homeopathics in combination with other therapies have been quite helpful. leave a comment below if you would like more information on this therapy.

7. Don't put your faith into one miracle. What tends to be most effective is tackling this and any other issue from a multi-faceted approach. This can include a variety of the options as listed or anything you feel is helpful. That is the difference between "wholistic medicine" and "one-istic medicine". OK, I made that up, but you get the point, right?

7. Please include your healthcare provider in your choices. The way we balance anything we do is crucial and supplements and pharmaceuticals do not always play nice together.

As always, I wish you health and happiness. I would love to hear your questions as well as about what has been helpful to you. Please leave me your comments below.

Why choose natural skincare?

I love skincare products. I turn into a complete girly girl when I see a new product and try one for the first time. Sometimes I feel like I have serum running through my veins. Which brings me to the point of this post, which is organic skincare. If there is going to be serum running through my veins, I'm pulling for the organic type.
Organic and nature based skincare is designed for the consumer who believes in the healing potential of nature. And nature has given us so many options that are amazingly effective. There seems to be a large demand for this type of product in the beauty industry, and for good reason. A well developed organic skincare product is a balanced blend of natural and/or organic element, that when combined properly, deliver strong results and a true experience. Natural products are often less irritating and have fewer chemical derived ingredients that can be harmful to you. As an example, read some of your skincare ingredients and see how often alcohol is listed. This is not something I recommend putting on your skin. alcohol is drying and harsh. your skin will look older and isn't that what most of use are trying to avoid by purchasing these often expensive anti-agers?
There are some top shelf organic and natural skincare products out there. Give them a try.

Add apple cider vinegar to your skincare routine

You may have heard that many people talk about the benefits of apple cider vinegar for your health. It has endless health applications. I have used it successfully in my practice to replace prescription meds for GERD as well as other digestive issues. I have used it in cleansing programs. And I use it as a part of my skincare every day.

Apple cider vinegar is a powerful yet gentle antiseptic which aids in killing surface bacteria on the skin. it also balances PH, and gently cleanses. Yes. This is truly an amazing tool in managing acne and other blemishes and can help with rosacea as well. You will likely see an increase in skincare products using this as a major ingredient because of this. It is a safe way to manage those teenage breakouts as well as body acne.

Derma'vention PH toner contains apple cider vinegar, which is blended to perfection with tea tree oil and other botanicals. I love toner, but I don't like the sticky feeling that most toners leave on the skin. Derma'vention PH toner leaves skin feeling amazing clean and supple.

Introducing Maca Superfood!

Maca has been prized for generations in Peru as a superfood, which has been used to support energy, enhance mood, and stabilize hormones. Maca is rich in phytonutrients, minerals, antioxidants, amino acids, vitamins and fatty acids. In Peru, Maca is used as a nutritious food source
because of the benefits of maintaining a healthy and balanced diet. All of this helps Maca achieve a superfood status for a food that is just gaining recognition in the US.

It is worthy to consider Maca not only a superfood but a super anti-ager. This is because humans age faster when hormones are out of sync. The body and mind get tired, people slow down, and that has an impact on multiple levels. Anti-aging is not just about how someone looks, it is primarily about resilience to the aging process. Maca enhances this resilience by supporting hormone and glandular function as well as providing natural and constitutional energy to allow participation effectively in the activities which keep people  healthy and moving.
Interestingly, Maca superfood has also been shown to increase collagen in the skin which supports the "look younger" part of anti-aging. As humans get older, collagen production and support network declines, resulting in looking older.

Maca has multiple applications for the following health needs:

1: Energy and stamina- it keeps people going with a healthy energy without stimulants.

2. PMS- heavy periods, fatigue, cramping, irritability. Maca has been shown to improve these symptoms

3. Menopause- supports hormone balance and decreased hot flashes

4. Libido- Maca has been used for centuries in Peru as an aphrodisiac, as well as for impotency and fertility issues

5. Skincare- Maca has been shown to not only increase collagen but to improve acne, likely due to the supportive aspect on the bodies hormonal system

6.Depression- Maca has been shown to increase serotonin levels which can have a significant impact on mood without unwanted side effects.
This makes Maca an excellent choice to maintain health and longevity.

Self Confidence

“I can live alone, if self-respect, and circumstances require me so to do. I need not sell my soul to buy bliss. I have an inward treasure born with me, which can keep me alive if all extraneous delights should be withheld, or offered only at a price I cannot afford to give.” ― Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre
Working with women for many years has taught me many truths:
1.We are all capable of amazing things
2.When women band together those amazing things become infinitely more amazing
3.We don't always want to join forces with other women because somewhere along the line we learned to compete, not complete. This often comes from lack of confidence in ourselves. When we don't feel confident and accomplished, it can be hard to be in the presence of others who do.
When we can learn that we are who we are because of what we feed ourselves, instead of comparing who we are to others, we can begin the journey to connect to who we truly are. Then we can finally refer back to 1 and 2.
With love and respect,

Fighting wrinkles and blemishes at the same time? Really?

Q. Why am I breaking out and fighting off wrinkles at the same time?

A. Oh the dreaded double whammy!! It is more common to experience this issue than you may think, even if you didn't experience breakouts as a teenager.  In  a very similar way, the same hormonal factors that influence teen acne, can trigger breakouts as an adult do to hormonal changes. As an adult the way we approach treating these breakouts may be different, and for good reasons.
Many products geared to treating acne can be very drying. Maturing skin requires adequate moisture to fight changes in texture and wrinkling, and treating it with drying, stripping chemicals will only produce more oil.
Some exceptional ingredients to look for are tea tree oil, white willow bark, tamanu oil, and apple cider vinegar.

Topical treatments are only one part of the equation, however. They are a strong part, but lifestyle and dietary changes are also important. Proper supplementation is also a helpful piece in working on the internal environment, where changes need to begin.

Delicious summer eating

There is just something about the fresh fruits and vegetables of summer isn't there?

Each season affords us an opportunity to take advantage of the best of what nature has to offer. I for one feel invigorated by the warmth and the sun, and it inspires me to not only get out and enjoy exercise in the beautiful weather, but to fully immerse myself in eating healthy.

Sounds like a great plan until I get to a picnic with hamburgers on the grill and potato salad in the refrigerator. Healthy eating plan, sunk. The association with summer and these delightfully unhealthy choices are just as much a part of summer fun as watermelon and berries. So what to do?

BALANCE. STOP FEELING GUILTY. SET HEALTHY LIMITS.

All of those things help us live in harmony in our everyday lives as well as in our eating habits.
Have a burger if you really love them. Put lots of lettuce, tomatoes and onions on it. Make sure to balance it with lots of healthy choices too. When doing that you can eliminate the guilt. Guilt provokes feelings which increase lack of satisfaction among other things, which can in the end, lead to eating more. What good is potato salad if it comes with a side of guilt? Instead, think about portion size and setting limits on how often you indulge. Treating ourselves well and with kindness can be found in moderation, good choices, and creating an inner understanding of our goals and aspirations. Especially with our food choices.

Wishing you a summer of health,

Charcoal...Not Just For Grillin'

Charcoal is gaining popularity in the beauty industry, but it has been used for hundreds of years to detox and quite literally pull toxins from the body. It is an excellent purifying agent. This makes activated charcoal an ideal addition to skincare, as it cleans the skin of not only dirt, but can deeply rid the skin of toxins.

Why does your skin need this? Quite simply, our skin is our largest eliminatory organ. It serves not only to hold our body together, but to flush toxins from the deepest level of our fat cells through perspiration. It also acts as a barrier to prevent pollutants, dirt, and bacteria from entering our bodies. Keeping our skin clean and breathing is essential for healthy skin.

Holistic Pain Management

Holistic pain management options are more diverse than you may think. Living with pain can certainly be a very draining experience and can significantly impact the quality of your life. There are natural, non invasive options out there that work well with your current medical regime, and can often replace reliance on medications. Natural methods work with the body and utilize each individuals internal healing and management capabilities to support recovery and maintenance. Here are some excellent options for naturally managing pain:

1. Reiki. An ancient energy healing in which the practitioner channels your energy for a complete healing experience. This is an amazing therapy for harnessing the power in you to heal.

2. LED therapy.  Infrared light therapy gets below the surface of the skin to increase circulation and decrease inflammation which decreases pain and swelling. Completely safe and treatments can be targeted to specific problem areas. Professional grade and lower intensity take home systems are readily available.

3. Hypervibe systems. I refer to this as the " shaky, shaky machine". The G force vibration of this equipment promotes lymphatic drainage, a boost to immunity and a deep and intense pain reliever. Be sure to ask about the equipment as they are not all created equal.

4. Acupuncture. This system of medicine is over 5000 years old. It is effective in managing pain by stimulating natural opiate neurotransmitters and restoring balance in the body.

5. Exercise. Getting stronger, increasing bone density, and losing weight. All key components of managing pain.

6. Healthy eating and water.  You are what you eat. Enough said.

7. Consultation with a Naturopath or Homeopath. A trained professional is integral to your healing with supplements. So often I hear people say things during a consultation like, " the guy at the vitamin store told me to try this but it didn't work for me" . With all due respect, the guy at the vitamin store received an in service at best as opposed to doctoral training in which a professional learns how every aspect of your life, medical history, emotional resistance and current medications impact a decision for a person centered treatment plan and recommendations. Consult a professional and trust your instincts.

8. Mindfulness training. Cognitive tools assist you in relieving the suffering you experience and help prepare you to utilize your mind to increase your resistance to pain.

What Are Phytoceramides?

Phytoceramides are plant based lipids that promote healthy skin and support optimal hydration levels, which protect the skin’s surface. Phytoceramides are a safe and healthy way to restore the structural integrity of the skin.
As we age, the amount of ceramides that occur naturally in our skin decreases, resulting in dry and wrinkled skin. Phytoceramides hydrate our skin from the inside out, essentially sticking our cells back together so the cells can hold moisture. Over time, this will repair the skin and increase collagen production. The result is smoother, more youthful looking skin.
In addition to Phytoceramides, our supplement formula contains vitamins A, C, D, and E; all anti-aging powerhouses for the most effective product on the market.
